A certificate of status can be obtained for any registered company in Canada. These certificates are not issued for sole proprietorships, partnerships or business names.  Depending on the jurisdiction it can be called a different name as follows:

Federal Companies – Certificate of Compliance

British Columbia Companies – Certificate of Good Standing

Alberta, Ontario and all other Provinces and Territories – Certificate of Status
